The director of 'The Runaways', Floria Sigismondi will be in charge of this contemporary version of a classic ghost story that will begin production in early 2018, and for which at first the name of the Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was announced. Produced by Scott Bernstein, Roy Lee and John Middleton, their story is officially described as follows:

A young English woman arrives at an old mansion in the countryside to take care of the education of a boy and a girl who have been orphaned. Shortly after his arrival, he discovers that children receive periodic "visits" from their former preceptors, a man and a woman killed a year ago. The governess, horrified, decides to do everything possible to defend the children, whose custody had been entrusted to her, and tries to stand between them and the ghosts.
